A community for GOOD

Growing Out Of Darkness (GOOD) is a 501(c)(3) public charity committed to mental health awareness, understanding, and healing.

Supporting those who have lost a loved one to suicide.

We must surround ourselves with people who push us beyond our comfort zone, encourage us during times of self-doubt, and love us even when we feel unlovable.

Be the village

The healing process is a journey that often requires a bit of adventure and a few missteps to fully appreciate the paradise waiting around the corner.

Be patient

We carefully choose our words and actions and embrace all paths that lead to growth – no matter how difficult.

Be intentional

Open up to those around you because you never know who you might help by sharing your experience with others.

Be vulnerable

Be gentle with yourself and others. Reach out, forgive, and take each and every opportunity to show compassion.

Be love

Discover your inner strength through inspirational readings, meditation, or prayer, and let them guide your words and actions.

Be the light

GOOD is a non-profit organization founded by real people impacted by depression and suicide. Our purpose is to promote awareness and offer support to those in pain.

Our values guide our work to inspire others to live healthy and meaningful lives.

GOOD Roots

After losing her dad to suicide in 1999, founder Jenny Thrasher was nearly broken by heartache. As raw and as painful as it was, she found healing and purpose in sharing her experiences with others.

She started GOOD in 2017 to create a community to connect and support survivors of suicide loss and inspire them to move through their wounds and discover true healing.

Quotation mark

“Losing my dad to suicide has been one of the most painful and isolating experiences of my life. I originally founded Growing Out Of Darkness based on my desire to donate copies of Growing Through Grief to anyone in need. I firmly believe that no one should have to pay to feel supported or to know that they are not alone in this journey. We are in this together.”
